Hosted by Peninsula Dental School, University of Plymouth, this GDC-recommended CPD course equips dental professionals with essential knowledge and skills in decontamination, disinfection, and sterilisation. In line with the Standards for the Dental Team and the GDC’s Enhanced CPD scheme, the course emphasises the importance of effective infection control to protect patients and the dental team. Participants will learn to distinguish between decontamination, disinfection, and sterilisation, understand the use of relevant equipment, and apply best practices in clinical and decontamination room settings. Guidance from Health Technical Memorandum 01-05 (HTM 01-05) and GDC Development Outcome C are embedded throughout the course. To complete the course and receive a certificate, participants must pass a self-paced quiz designed to assess their understanding. By the end, learners will be better prepared to uphold high standards of safety, care, and professionalism in dental practice.
